Maya Lasker-Wallfisch: So, Mom, I'm going to be meeting the son and grandson of the commandant of Auschwitz, largely motivated by what I've learned from you and the things that you've said. And what do you think about that? Anita Lasker-Wallfisch: Well, I think it's fantastic. Since the hatred goes on and antisemitism is absolutely flourishing, it's very important to talk about these things. Maya Lasker-Wallfisch: I wanted to ask you whether you would consider coming to Auschwitz with me. Anita Lasker-Wallfisch: Not really, no. My Auschwitz is very different from your Auschwitz. You haven't actually been in it. I mean - that's what I mean. You haven't actually been in the situation where you didn't know whether you're going to live another hour or not. You don't know what my Auschwitz is. And I want it left alone. I want it left alone. I have nothing against meeting the son of Höss but I'm not going to Auschwitz. He should come to my house. You should come to my house. You know, I'm pretty disabled. If anybody wants anything has to come here. Maya Lasker-Wallfisch: That's quite a thought. Anita Lasker-Wallfisch: What? Maya Lasker-Wallfisch: Kaffee and kuchen in your house. Anita Lasker-Wallfisch: Yes, why not? If he brings the kuchen.
